LAKEWOOD — The bad weather didn’t stop the Fredonia boys tennis team and neither did Maple Grove as the Hillbillies began Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 action with a 3-2 victory at the Lakewood YMCA on Thursday.

It is a bounce back win for the Hillbillies (1-1, 1-0) after dropping a nonleague contest against Olean on Tuesday when they did not have enough players for third doubles.

Fredonia was able to pick up the win indoors against the Red Dragons with singles victories from Jackson Spengler and Aaron Hartung, then a doubles win from the duo of Nate Krakowiak and Sam Pietro.

Maple Grove picked up a win in second singles by Max Concejo and then the first doubles team of Gabe Carlson and Max Reynolds.
