CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

¯ MAYVILLE — Brandon Murphy, 26, of Ripley, was charged with petit larceny. Murphy, who is incarcerated at the Chautauqua County Jail, was reportedly observed stealing jail property on security cameras and found in possession of the property. Chautauqua County Criminal Investigations division handled the case. Murphy was arraigned and remanded back to the jail.

¯ HANOVER — Christian Kahabka, 23, of South Dayton, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Kahabka was issued an appearance ticket Thursday following an investigation from an incident that occurred in January in the town of Hanover. He is scheduled to appear in Hanover Town Court later.

JAMESTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

¯ Vaughn R. Grant, 35, of Jamestown, was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI per, reckless driving, passing a red signal, failure to maintain lane, speed in zone and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. Officers observed a vehicle traveling at high speeds, crossing the double solid lines and disregarding a red light at 2:20 a.m. Saturday on East Second Street near Buffalo Street. An investigation found that Grant was intoxicated and later provided a breath sample of 0.13%.

¯ William J. Morse, 38, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree assault. Officers responded at 7:15 p.m. Saturday to Fulton Street for a reported assault. A review of video found that Morse allegedly struck another person in the head multiple times with a metal cane. Morse was taken to jail and held for arraignment.

¯ Robert L. Barr, 48, of Jamestown, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and aggravated family offense. Officers responded at 8:22 a.m. Friday with New York state parole to conduct a welfare check at a westside residence. Barr was found with another person who had a valid stay away order of protection. Barr was transported to Jamestown City Jail and held for arraignment.
