Falconer Christmas events may be one-day festival

The village of Falconer may be getting a little bit jollier this December. Nikki Pierce, a member of the Falconer Village Board, said during a recent meeting she had met with Ron Caldwell, organizer of the Falconer Christmas Association, to talk about planning a Christmas festival. Pierce said the event being discussed could incorporate all of the traditional Falconer Christmas activities that have been planned in the past into a one-day event tentatively scheduled for Dec. 5. CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT --- PORTLAND --- At approximately 6:37 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to an address for a report of an unwanted male who was letting horses loose from their pasture. Upon arrival, Jacob H. Tye, 39, of Brocton, was identified as the suspect and was taken into custody. Through further investigation, it was found that Tye did arrive at the property and unlawfully entered a building. Clymer looking for playground building volunteers

CLYMER — The town of Clymer is set to hold their KABOOM! community playground building days June 25 through 27, but the town is still looking for volunteers for a few areas for those three days. During the town’s June board meeting Deputy Town Supervisor Todd Kolstee said some materials have started arriving and the perimeter has been marked for where the playground will be built. The school has reached out to have staff and students help out in shifts. A side project will also be done for two new picnic tables and benches, along with a new town park sign. Sherman discusses speed, traffic issues

SHERMAN - Sherman officials are having preliminary discussions about ways to decrease speeding and parking throughout the village. During a recent board meeting, Colleen Meeder, Sherman mayor, said she had attended a Safe Streets event hosted by Erie County. The Community Development Block Grant money available for safe streets can be used to improve sidewalks, but cannot be used for trail improvement, she said.
