The full residency is as follows:

Presentation 1, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Sheldon Center Room 111

Recital, 12:20 to 1:15 p.m., Sheldon Center Room 138

Woodwind Masterclass, 4 to 5 p.m., Sheldon Center Room 147

Effiny Saxophone Duo pairs Mark Engebretson and Susan Fancher, who together create innovative, energetic new music for saxophones. They often include electronic elements to create a cutting-edge sound.

Engebretson’s works often explore popular music styles, connections between poetry, and music with the dynamism of 21st century technology and great technical skill.

Fancher teaches saxophone and coaches chamber music at Duke University and Wake Forest University. She is known for her expressive tone and poetic musical interpretations.

The residency is sponsored by the JCC Music Department; Arts, Humanities, Health Sciences division; Faculty Student Association; College Program Committee, and the Katharine Jackson Carnahan Endowment for the Humanities.
