MAYVILLE – The Mayville Chautauqua Lions Club is hosting a Kentucky Derby Party on May 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mayville VFW, 10 Memorial Drive, Mayville, with all benefits going to disabled veterans.

The fundraiser will be an opportunity to gather together, enjoy the race, root for a favorite jockey/horse and raise money for disabled veterans. Reservations are preferred by calling the VFW at 716-753-2444. Walk-ins are welcome as well. A derby buffet costs $12 while a Mint Julep special is $5. Derby hats are encouraged while 50-50 tickets will be available.

For the past 77 years, the Mayville Chautauqua Lions have provided support to the local communities, including Mayville, Chautauqua, Westfield, Ripley and Sherman. Lions have paid for eye exams and corrective lenses for children and adults, adaptive equipment such as watches, white canes and reading devices for local visually impaired residents and provided free vision screenings for children aged 6 months through high school.
