FALCONER — The Thule Lodge, which is a part of the international Swedish organization known as Vasa, held its annual Swedish Christmas dinner at the Falcon’s Nest in Falconer. The dinner which has been a part of the organization during its 111 years of being in the Jamestown area, is known as the Dopp I Gryta. The Swedish phrase means the dipping of the bread, as different kinds of bread are served with a dipping sauce.
The meal was catered by the 3-C’s Catering. Included in the variety were Swedish sausage known as korv, Swedish meatballs, red potatoes, rotmos which is made with rutabaga and potatoes, beets, rice pudding, cole slaw, ham, pickled herring, pickles, cheeses, breads and a wide variety of fancy cookies.
The event was called to order by Thule Lodge treasurer Loretta Smith, with a welcome and a brief description of the meal. Smith thanked all those for attending this special Christmas dinner.
Following the meal, the Thule dancers, who recently were on a dance tour of Sweden, entertained the people with music and dancing. Don Sandy, with his accordion, provided the music, and introduced each of those who participated in the dance tour of Sweden.
