Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary To Meet Monday

The Cassadaga Legion Auxiliary held their held their regular monthly meeting on Jan. 9 with 10 members attending, including five officers. President Pat opened the meeting in regular fashion with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Auxiliary Preamble, and a moment of silence for our fallen soldiers.

Chaplain Paula Pattison gave the opening prayer. New Unit member, Diane Cybulski, was introduced and welcomed into the group. Committee reports were as follows: Chaplain Paula reported one funeral luncheon for a Unit 1280 member plus several get well cards were sent out.

For Children and Youth Unit member Bonnie Vari reported that the children’s Christmas party held in December was well attended by local children, and they enjoyed the games, crafts and seeing Santa. Our Community Service and Cancer chairperson Pat Hayward said the Juniors collected food & money donations that benefited the Cassadaga Food Pantry to help out during the holidays.

It was noted that membership is at about 63 percent for the year. On Old business Plans are ongoing for our annual Rummage Sale to be held in May. There will be a luncheon at the Lakewood Legion Post 1286, and a testimonial dinner at the Frewsburg Legion Post 556, Monday, Feb. 5th.

Unit 1280 has nice corn brooms for sale at $10 each and they continue to collect Pennies for Hospice “Can tabs for Troop support,” and “Box Tops for Education.” Unfortunately, the auxiliary is no longer accepting coupons for our Troops overseas as the interest in them has diminished.
