50th Anniversary

Providing a good product and friendly service is the philosophy behind 50 years of success for Robo Enterprises.

The business was started at 1301 E. Second St. by father-and-son team Augie and George Carlson. Today, 50 years later, the location that started it all is still open providing customers with full-service gasoline and a self-serve or automatic car wash. Along with the original Robo location, the business has expanded into locations at 817 N. Main St., and 111 Marion St. in Jamestown, and 435 Central Ave. in Dunkirk.

At the Marion Street location, Robo provides a convenience store and deli; gas station with full-service on Tuesdays; a self-serve and automatic car wash; laundry facility; and a dog wash. The North Main Street Robo offers a convenience store and deli; laundry facility; and gas station. In Dunkirk, customers can fill up their car at the gas station and get something to eat for the road at the convenience store and deli.

Along with the four Robo locations, the company also operates Tasty Corners in the South Side Plaza along Foote Avenue and Pic 17 Self Storage at 3209 Fluvanna Ave.

“It is hard to imagine 50 years have gone by as fast as they have,” said Kim Carlson, Robo Enterprises general manager.

Carlson said Robo Enterprises wouldn’t be where they are today without the leadership of Tom and Aaron Beichner, who partnered with the Carlsons.

“Tom Beichner partnered with my dad, George, and it was pivotal to Robo being able to expand,” Carlson said. “It is very exciting for all of us (the 50th anniversary) including Tom’s son, Aaron, and myself.”

Carlson said the business will continue to operate and expand to provide necessary services to their loyal customers.

“It started with George and Augie, but it took both the Beichner and Carlson families to expand into what we have today, and we will continue to live by the same philosophy for the next 50 years,” she said. “We’re very thankful to the community, and our past and current employees.”

To celebrate the 50th anniversary, customers were able to receive a discount on gas, a $1 off on car washes; cake and hot dogs on Tuesday, Spet. 30. Carlson said on Wednesday, Oct. 1, several prizes and giveaways were drawn including prizes like tickets to the Southern Tier Xpress junior hockey at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, Robo gift cards and coupons for gas and car washes.

Starting at $3.50/week.
