Falconer members walked away after two days of competition at the 2026 New York State FBLA State Leadership Conference with several awards.

Nine members traveled to compete against nearly 800 students from around the state. Falconer students secured first place with their Chapter Business Display and third place in the Chapter of the Year event. In addition, several members secured spots to compete at the National Leadership Conference this summer, including:

– FBLA Middle Level members Lydia Cross, first place, Exploring Customer Service and first place Career Research; and

Maci-Lynn Akin, second place Digital Citizenship and third place Exploring Leadership.

– FBLA members Finley Darr, Ella Garrison and Lilli Szal-Williams placed third in the Local Chapter Annual Business Report, where they will highlight the chapter’s activities throughout the year with a 17-page report and a presentation to a panel of judges.

– Finley Darr, Ella Garrison, and Savannah Moore, Patrick Braley, and Carson Braley, were recognized by being inducted into NYS FBLA Honor Society.”

Michelle Johnson, the chapter’s advisor, was named the New York state FBLA Outstanding Adviser of the Year.

“While the awards are a highlight, the SLC is about much more than trophies,” Johnson said. “Throughout the conference, members were fully immersed in the FBLA experience. They attended workshops designed to build leadership and business skills, visited campaign booths and participated in the election of state officers, competed in both performance events and written examinations, and networked with hundreds of fellow members from across the state.”

The students who qualified for nationals are now preparing to head to San Antonio, Texas, for the National Leadership Conference.

Starting at $3.50/week.
