Wofford, Lumia shine at Class AA meet

WEST SENECA — A pair of Jamestown athletes won titles while another two came in second at the Section VI Class AA Track & Field Championships at West Seneca West High School on Wednesday.

Red & Green senior Clevon Wofford won the mile race as he posted a time of 4:24.65 for the 1,600-meter championship and sophomore Beckett Lumia continued his dominance in the 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 55.57. Jamestown junior Braiden Kennedy placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.22.

Jamestown had a pair of runnerup finishes with sophomore Tyler Tellez in pole vault (13-0) and senior Jorge Rivera Jr. in the discus (145-9).

Lumia added another 4 points for the Red and Green in the 200 meters taking fourth (23.00), junior Angel Martinez placed fifth in the 100 meters (11.44), then in the 3,200 meters, Thomas Kathman placed fourth (9:59.95) and Wyatt Olmstead took fifth (10:04.68).

The Jamestown boys 1,600-meter relay team finished third with Kennedy, Lumia, Martinez and Finn Caswell racing to 3:29.76. The Jamestown girls scored their only points taking sixth in the 3,200-meter relay as Kater Hockenberry, Ryah Leeper, London Hamilton and Gabriella Knight provided a time of 10:53.69.

The Jamestown boys finished fifth with a score of 56, while Hamburg claimed the Class AA title with 95 points. Williamsville North won the girls title with a score of 111.
