CRCF To Be Recognized

The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation will be recognized by the Blackwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church and its Blackwell Chapel Baby Cafe for its commitment and support for establishing a not-for-profit status by being a fiduciary agent to both organizations from 2016 until June 2021. The Blackwell Chapel Church is the oldest and first African American Church in Chautauqua County founded by a notable conductor, who ran the Underground Railroad Station out of the attic of her home on West Seventh Street in the city. The grass-roots Baby Cafe was evolved in 2016 to help breast feeding mothers and to encourage them to breast feed for longer durations for a more healthy infant/baby in a baby friendly atmosphere, with certified lactation counselors. The community foundation was founded in 1978 and throughout its 40-plus year history it has enriched the quality of life in the Chautauqua region, while benefiting the people of the community it serves. The church and the cafe will host a recognition lunch for the staff of the Community Region Foundation held at the Marvin House on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at noon. To attend, call Catherine Harrison at 969-5244 or 708-6399 leave a message with information.
