Focusing On A ‘Balanced Approach’

To The Reader’s Forum: The editorial in the June 24, 2024, edition of The Post-Journal focused upon the editors’ long advocacy of “a balanced approach when it comes to Chautauqua Lake.” Later in the editorial it suggests that “It is important state law reflects the balance needed between ecology and economy.…” The need for a healthy lake is not being focused upon in the advocacy for balance. Justice Is About Determining Innocence Or Guilt

To The Reader’s Forum: Without the acceptance of truth and justice, we will have a dictatorship not a democracy. We are facing a lot of vitriol condemning the fair and just decision of 12 jurors in Trump’s hush money trial. These jurors took a solemn oath to listen to the facts, disregard their feelings, weigh the merits of the case, then determine former President Trump’s innocence or guilt. To the Readers’ Forum: As someone who has twice had the privilege of serving on a jury, I was saddened to read U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy’s recent press release on the verdict in the Trump trial (https://langworthy.house.gov/media/press-releases/langworthy-statement-verdict-trump-trial ). New York Gun Laws Are Indeed Effective

To The Reader’s Forum: I don’t expect much from the editors of The Post-Journal but their opinion piece of April 20, 2024, suggesting that New York’s strict gun laws are not keeping firearms out of the wrong hands was a testament to their lack of basic journalism skills. Anyone in a position of responsibility who deems to state a public opinion on a subject serious gun crime has the obligation to do, at the very least, some basic research.
