Propheter, Leeper Shine For Jamestown

SANBORN — Ella Propheter did it all for the Red & Green as Jamestown came away from Niagara Wheatfield with a 19-7 Division 1 flag football victory Saturday.

Propheter completed 13 of 18 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown, and she also rushed 11 times for 66 yards. Then, on defense, she led Jamestown with eight flag pulls and reeled in a 22-yard interception for a touchdown. She also returned a punt 44 yards for a score.

Kaylee Leeper was the recipient of Propheter’s touchdown pass as she caught eight passes for 70 yards and she rushed five times for 33 yards. Kate Kathman also caught three passes for 19 yards and Dainys Cruz had a big 28-yard reception.

On the defensive side of the ball, Leeper had four flag pulls and two pass breakups; Kathman had four flag pulls and an interception; Cruz made for flag pulls and an interception; Karlee Rock grabbed four flags; and Maddy Strickland was key on the defensive line with five flag pulls, one for a loss, and two sacks.

Jamestown (5-3, 5-2) travels to Williamsville North on Tuesday for another league contest. With the defeat, Niagara Wheatfield falls to 2-4-1 overall and in Division 1.

FREDONIA JETS BY IROQUOIS

FREDONIA — Fredonia exploded for 21 points in the second half to get by Iroquois in Division 2 South action Saturday at the Orange Bowl.

Ella Koopman was firing in the backfield as she threw for 122 passing yards and three touchdowns, and scampered for 38 yards.

Madelyn Polhamus reeled in two touchdown passes and finished with 45 receiving yards. Ashlynn Decamp had 73 yards receiving.

Francesca Pucci received Koopman’s other touchdown, but really shined on the ground amassing 96 yards. Natalia DiPalma rushed for 34 yards and Emma Patterson added another 15 on the ground.

Defensively, Paige Elliott caught two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown; Elizabeth Morris managed three sacks; Polhamus reeled in a pick; Lily Runkel had a sack; Koopman led with eight flag pulls; and both Rosaliz Aponte and Katrina Harper had five flag pulls.

Iroquois scored once in the second half when Sam Current connected on a pass with Ava Spanitz for a touchdown. Current finished with 54 passing yards and 38 rushing yards. Spanitz had 71 receiving yards and Ava Drabik rushed for 31 yards.

Spanitz managed an interception, Tierney Kramer led with six flag pulls and Tiana Schelbe had two tackles for loss.

Fredonia improves to 9-1 overall, 5-1 in the league and entertains Health Sciences tonight. Iroquois falls to 3-3 overall and in league and hosts Holland on Wednesday.
