Hinds Honored As Top Player, Coach In CCAA D1 East

After winning a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C title, a Section VI crown and the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East championship, the Randolph Cardinals have received multiple postseason honors.

Sophomore Drew Hind was named the CCAA Division 1 East Player of the Year and his dad, Kevin, was named the league’s co-Coach of the Year, while seniors Carson Conley and Jaiden Huntington joined Drew Hind on the league’s First Team.

Drew Hind averaged 19.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.0 steals per game for the Cardinals, who went 10-0 in league play. Conley averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, while Huntington averaged 13.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Silver Creek placed two players on the First Team. Senior Matt Woleben averaged 16.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game, while junior Ray Cortes averaged 23.6 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.

Frewsburg senior Zack Carr rounded out the First Team after averaging 13.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

The Bears’ Rob Collver shared the Coach of the Year honor with Kevin Hind after Frewsburg finished 7-3 in the league and advanced to the Section VI Class C championship game.

Cassadaga Valley won the league’s Sportsmanship Award.

Falconer placed two players on the league’s Second Team. Sophomore Mathis Baehr averaged 14.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while Markham, a freshman, averaged 12.3 points and 4.3 assists per game.

Frewsburg junior Gavin Smith, who averaged 17.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game, and his Bears senior teammate Connor Murray, who averaged 15.0 points and 3.7 assists per game, were both named to the Second Team.

Gowanda junior Quentin Centner, who averaged 16.5 points per game, rounded out the Second Team.
