JCC Baseball Ends 10-Game Losing Streak

SALAMANCA — The Jamestown Community College baseball team ended its 10-game losing streak with a pair of emphatic wins over Corning CC, and the two victories could not have come in a more different fashion.

In Game 1, Jamestown fell behind early to Corning 4-0 before rallying back.

JCC cut the deficit in half on a two-run blast from Jackson Shannon. The sophomore’s home run makes it a 4-2 game going into the fifth. In the bottom of the frame, Anger Perez cut the hole to just one with a fielder’s choice RBI. That was followed by Seth Ranieri, who knotted the game up at 4-4 on an RBI single.

That score held to the top of the seventh when Corning reclaimed the lead before JCC answered in the bottom. Down a run and running out of opportunities, Ranieri came to the plate and lifted an RBI double to the outfield to score the game-tying run. He would score the game-winning run thanks to a hot-shot single to right from Bryce Bedrosian for the 7-6 victory.

The second game belonged to the Jayhawks from the opening pitch as sophomore Kolden McCall held Corning scoreless through three innings and allowed just three runs in the game.

His offense did more than enough to earn him the win.

In the top of the first, Jamestown got on the board off of a Santino Musone two-run single for a 2-0 edge. He would score on a wild pitch to make it a 3-0 lead after one inning of action.

JCC blew the game open in the second thanks to several timely hits, starting with Shannon plating a pair on a two-run double to the fence for a 5-0 game. Ranieri also drove home a pair of Jayhawks with a double for a 7-0 home team advantage. Jamestown’s upper hand continued to swell, with Emmanuel Rosario also bringing in a pair of his teammates for a 9-0 game. Before it was all said and done in the second, JCC was up 10-0 after Cadyn Wilson drove in another run.

The third inning was even more fruitful for Jamestown, scoring eight runs in the bottom half of the inning. It started with a two-run home run from Muscone. He was followed by an RBI from Ranieri and two more from Manny Rosario for a 15-0 JCC lead. Musone came back up with the bases loaded and didn’t miss the offering as he cleared the bases with a double for an 18-0 JCC lead.

Corning was able to get three in the top of the fourth before Jamestown scored another pair with RBIs from Wilson and Perez for the final score of 20-3.

JCC now takes its two-game winning streak on the road to Corning on Thursday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
