Locals Shine At Frostbite Relays

FRANKLINVILLE — Several local athletes and relay teams finished in the top eight at the Frostbite Relays on Saturday.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton sophomore Meredith Lendt won the girls 1,500 meters with a time of 5:12.32 while Frewsburg junior Grace Gilevski was third with a time of 5:40.46.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley senior Mary Lundmark won the girls pole vault at 10 feet, a foot-and-a-half higher than the second-place finisher. Freshman Maliyah Stone, Lundmark’s teammate, tied for fifth with Frewsburg junior Kactus Brown at 6 feet, 6 inches. Franklinville/Ellicottville eighth-grader Nora Edwards tied for seventh at 6 feet.

Frewsburg’s boys won the 800-meter sprint medley with a time of 1:38.32. The Bears runners were Cole Vaughn, Callen Lindberg, Lucas Randolph and Noah Erickson. Salamanca’s Jack Merrill, Remy Follman, Xazavier Escobar and Jesse Hill were sixth (1:42.14) while Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Chris Edwards, Jackson Tomsick, Tosh Klein and Ben Wedvik were seventh (1:43.67).

Frewsburg’s boys were also second in the 1,600-meter relay. Vaughn, Randolph, Henry Eckert and Erickson finished in 3:32.67.

In the boys 1,600 meters, Franklinville/Ellicottville senior Grant Cornell took fourth in 4:56.86.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton senior Michael Horvath took fifth place in the boys triple jump at 40 feet, 10.5 inches.

Chris Edwards, a junior, tied for third in the boys pole vault at 9 feet, 6 inches while Salamanca junior Easton Chudy tied for fifth at 9 feet. Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton sophomore Zakry Barrett tied for eighth (7-6).

Eckert, a senior, took fourth in the boys discus with a heave of 120 feet, 7 inches. Falconer/Cassadaga Valley junior Patrick Braley was fifth at 118 feet, 2 inches. Salamanca sophomore Kasen Hardy was eighth (110-8).

In the girls discus, Frewsburg senior Brea Rubrecht was fourth at 94 feet, 11 inches. Salamanca sophomore Paloma Haas was eighth (78-3).

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s Anna Gollhardt, Nora Robinson, Charlotte Emhardt and Lendt placed fourth in the girls 4,000-meter relay with a time of 14:05.75. Salamanca’s Thia Chudy, Lailee Pierce, Makena Riesdorf and Kaylin Lemon were fifth with a time of 14:10.24. Frewsburg’s Genevieve Bussman, Haleigh Cardot, Audrey Gillies and Gilevski were sixth (14:13.71).

Eckert also took fifth in the boys shot put at 39 feet, 8 inches while junior teammate Jaden Collver was seventh (38-9.5).

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley freshman Skyler Norlander took fifth in the girls long jump at 14 feet, 9.5 inches. Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton sophomore Noli Paddock was seventh (13-11) and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley junior Brynn Helms was eighth (13-9.25).

Helms was also sixth in the girls triple jump at 31 feet, 5 inches.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s D’Mitri Carlson, Braley, Ethan Yanik and Reese McKay were fifth in the boys 400-meter shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 57.63. Salamanca’s Easton Chudy, Kylan Jacobson, Merrill and Lecceardone were seventh (1:01.65).

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s Gollhardt, Emhardt, Robinson and Lendt were fifth in the girls 3,200-meter distance medley relay with a time of 14:07.76. Salamanca’s Arleigh Chudy, Ireland Fidurko, Pierce and Lemon were seventh (14:37.66).

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s Gollhardt, Robinson, Emhardt and Lendt were also fifth in the girls 3,200-meter relay with a time of 11:45.55. Salamanca’s Thia Chudy, Fidurko, Pierce and Lemon were sixth (11:47.86).

Stone tied for sixth (4-6) in the girls high jump. Salamanca junior Thia Chudy tied for eighth (4-4).

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s Michael Horvath, Stroth, Lane Scarpine and Kinderman were sixth in the boys 800-meter relay (1:39.24).

Salamanca’s Aiden George, Hill, Johnson and Payton Bigler were sixth (9:20.29) in the boys 3,200-meter relay. Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s Franklin, Urijah Meredith, Lucas Horvath and Tyler Tunison were eighth (9:35.21).

Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Cornell, Ethan Learn, James McAuley and Timothy Dechane were sixth (11:16.06) in the boys 4,000-meter relay.

Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Peyton Blue, Alexea Hernandez, Diana Li and Eva Green took sixth (1:08.05) in the girls 400-meter shuttle relay. Frewsburg’s Josephine Vaughn, Sebryna Rivera, Lillian Swan and Brown were eighth (1:13.29).

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Arianna Howard, Alyssa Howard, Kenley Lincoln and Gabrielle Cunningham were sixth (1:59.79) in the girls 800-meter relay. Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s Olivia Aman, Lily Otto, Kadence Phillips and Paddock were eighth (2:01.53).

McKay, a sophomore, tied for seventh in the boys high jump (5-6).

Haas took seventh (30-4.5) and Rubrecht was eighth (29-6) in the girls shot put.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s Michael Horvath, Scarpine, Eddy and Kinderman were seventh in the boys 400-meter relay (46.54).

In the boys 3,200-meter distance medley relay, Frewsburg’s Tyler Lundgren, Joseph Steward, Chaos Hedges and Strider Dahlin were seventh (11:35.65) while Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s Stroth, Lucas Horvath, Tunison and Meredith were eighth (11:46.36).

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton’s Otto, Aman, Phillips and Kassidy Benedetto were seventh (2:05.99) in the girls 800-meter sprint medley relay.

Franklinville/Ellicottville sophomore Jacob Henning took eighth in the boys long jump (19-2).
