Anderson Leads Cougars Past Golden Falcons

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Cassadaga Valley girls basketball team used a 20 point second quarter to build a lead it would not relinquish as the Cougars cruised past Falconer 49-40 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East action on Thursday.

Emiley Anderson shined again for the Cougars (7-5, 1-2) as she scored 28 points, grabbed six rebounds and made two steals; Aliyah Hopkins scored 9 points, made 10 rebounds, grabbed four steals and had four blocks; Andrea Johnson had seven rebounds and Breonna Hopkins grabbed six.

Falconer’s (6-4, 2-1) top scorer was Dani Krenzer with 10 points.

PANAMA — The Panama jumped after Chautauqua Lake early to speed to a 72-35 victory in CCAA Division 2 West action.

Mandy Brink paced the Panthers (8-4, 6-0) with 26 points, 11 assists, six rebounds and four steals; Kaitlyn Horton grabbed seven rebounds; and both Lilly Odell and Kylie Morgan had six boards.

Chautauqua Lake (6-6, 2-4) was led by Erma Wolcott with 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

SILVER CREEK — Sherman used a huge fourth quarter to get past Silver Creek 50-31 in CCAA Division 2 West action.

Paige Gratto paced the Wildcats (7-3, 5-1) with 17 points and four assists; Tayden Persons hauled in nine rebounds and eight steals; and Leighanne Swan had 10 rebounds.

Silver Creek (2-9, 0-5) was led by Kay Hutchison with 10 points; Lucille Jimerson had six rebounds and Tessa Braidich made three assists.

McINTYRE SHINES FOR TROJANS

FREDONIA — Maddie McIntyre had 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots as Southwestern beat Fredonia 55-41 in Division 1 West action.

The Hillbillies (3-7, 0-3) led 7-2 after the first quarter before a 15-8 second quarter gave the Trojans (9-2, 3-0) a two-point lead at halftime.

Reece Beaver had 18 points, six assists and five steals while Lauren Cotter grabbed nine rebounds and Braya Beaver had four steals for Southwestern.

Alana Holt led Fredonia with 10 points and Ella Koopman scored 8.

Paige Hohl chipped in 12 points; Haleigha Hardy had 8 points, eight rebounds and four steals; Danica Farnham had seven rebounds and six steals; Sarah Kruszka had six steals; and Vivien Libby had eight rebounds for the Panthers (4-7, 2-1).

OLEAN — Payton Morrison had a season-20 points to go along with seven steals, six rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots as Randolph beat Olean 57-43 in Division 1 West action.

Skylar Herington added 18 points and six rebounds; Kyra Pence had 12 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and five steals; and Quinn Pence had four steals for the Cardinals (6-3, 3-0).

Leah Williams led the Huskies (4-5, 1-2) with 27 points, including six 3-pointers.
