Danny Hosley singled home Justin Bailey with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Jamestown Tarp Skunks beat the Niagara Power 6-5 in Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League action Monday evening at Diethrick Park.

Niagara’s Seth Tomczak hit Bailey with the first pitch of the bottom of the ninth before he was replaced by Alex Wize. Luke Turner was then hit by a pitch with one out before Hosley hit the first pitch he saw for the game-winning hit.

Jamestown’s Justin Guiliano picked up the win with two innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit while striking out two. Ryan Bradarich threw three innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit while striking out five.

The Tarp Skunks took a 4-0 lead in the second inning, highlighted by Padraig O’Shaughnessy’s leadoff home run to right field. Johnny Kampes followed with a single and DiMaggio Cazares reached on a fielder’s choice before a Justin Bowers single put runners at first and second. Elijah Pascual then walked before Cazares scored on a wild pitch with Chase Carlson at the plate. After a strikeout and a hit batter, Mark Tucker hit a two-run single.

Niagara answered with three runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth off Jamestown starting pitcher Evan Harrison.

The Tarp Skunks tied the game in the bottom of the fifth when Turner and Hosley were issued back-to-back walks with one out. A double steal put runners at second and third before Turner scored on a wild pitch.

Jamestown improved to 28-14 on the season and had already locked up first place in the West Division. Amsterdam (31-8, .788) and Saugerties (25-11, .694), both of the East Division, have better winning percentages than the Tarp Skunks and will likely be the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds in the postseason. As the No. 3 seed, Jamestown would host the No. 6 seed Friday at Diethrick Park. The winner would then go on the road for a semifinal game Saturday.

The Tarp Skunks wrap up their regular-season schedule at home Wednesday against the Batavia Muckdogs for Fan Appreciation Night.
