ROCHESTER — Carson Swanson is 12 years old, but his prowess off the tee belies his age.

Competing in an age-group World Long Drive Association competition at Home Team Sports Park on Saturday, the Westfield resident led the way in the 12-13 division with a 241-yard effort on his final attempt.

That drive earned Carson an opportunity to walk out with the World Long Drive professionals when they compete Wednesday at the same venue in a World Long Drive Tour event that will be televised on The Golf Channel.

There were four competitors in Carson’s age group yesterday afternoon. The second- and third-place finishers recorded top drives of 225 and 197 yards respectively.
