To The Reader’s Forum: As our practice in most cases, the Chautauqua Lake Partnership will not respond to specific allegations or comments made by the Chautauqua Lake Association (CLA) President and Executive Director in a March 5, 2019, Jamestown Post-Journal article. To The Reader’s Forum: Society had an opioid problem. Earnest people said wise things and called for restrictions. Government instituted restrictions. The restrictions created huge amounts of inconvenience and pain for millions of law abiding patients but there are more, not fewer, illegal drug users and dealers now and the restrictions seem to have done little good. To The Reader’s Forum: The editorial “NY Lawmaker Should Abandon Crusade for Single Payer Health Care (Post Journal, February 22, 2019)” asserts that NYS should “listen to Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Empire Center for New York Policy” and abandon the New York Health Act (NYHA). I take exception to this recommendation. The very astute and succinct summary of the recent air travel prospects provided by the Cohens in their letter in the Post Journal on 2/24/19 could serve as a guide map for an interim solution.
