Falconer After Prom Party Successful

June 1, 2019

To The Reader’s Forum: It is with great honor that I can say that Falconer pulled off its 31st annual After-Prom Party on May 18, 2019. Once again we transformed the school into a western haven. This year’s theme was Best In The West At FCS, with a mechanical bull. We had over 155 children and 80 adults attend the all-night event. There were some students from other schools with their dates from Falconer and the look on their faces was worth a million bucks. The kids were able to play games to win funny money which they could purchase from a selection of over 200 gifts and ...

Reader Wants Change From Representatives

May 31, 2019

To The Reader’s Forum: The Preamble to Our Constitution provides, in part, “We the People of the United States, in Order to . . . promote the general Welfare, . . . do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of . . . “ All political party ideologies aside, we in the United States are a constitutional democracy first and foremost, which is – dare I say – a higher ideal than free commercial enterprise. Our Founding Fathers recognized this, and so did the states, when they enacted and ratified Art. I, Sec. 8 of the Constitution, giving a governmental ...

Amphitheater Should Receive Same Treatment

May 30, 2019

To The Reader’s Forum: Who is Chautauqua’s John Shedd kidding? Asked why the Chautauqua Institution has gone to such great lengths to restore the Massey organ (”Iconic Massey Memorial Organ Ready for the Season”), he said: “The organ has become part of the environment and attracts people to the grounds by its mere presence.” But if that’s the criteria for restoring an organ, what about the historic Amphitheater, which actually was a national historic landmark designed by its co-founder Lewis Miller where great movements in our nation’s history gained traction and our ...

The President Is A Proven Liar And A Fraud

May 20, 2019

To the Reader’s Forum: Just after the election Donald Trump agreed to a $25 million dollar fine to settle the charges brought by students robbed by his so-called university. The American people ignored the fact that he in essence declared himself a fraud. He continues to reassert that fact on an almost daily basis. In March of 2018 Mr. Trump declared “trade wars are good and easy to win.” Today, over a year later, we are still in an ever escalating trade war with several countries. The man is a fraud. In June of last year Mr. Trump declared “everybody can now feel much ...

Tax Relief Means Cutting Services

May 17, 2019

To The Reader’s Forum: When a state elected official talks of “tax relief,” I think we should all chuckle at such words. For we know what they really mean. “Tax relief” is not about taking a burden away from the population of the state, but it is to take away things we do together to improve our lives. Whenever a politician uses words such as “tax relief” or “tax cuts” or “spending cuts,” we know that the politician is avoiding telling us what they really want to do. They really want to cut services. But they are not forthright enough to tell us exactly ...

Reader Calls For Officials To Give An Estimate

May 16, 2019

To The Reader’s Forum: In a recent article in The Post-Journal, it states that the predicted dates for Medicare (2026) and Social Security (2037) are to become insolvent. Obviously, this is very disturbing but it brings me to one very important question. Can any elected official from any political party give us an estimate on when Medicaid and related social services programs will also become insolvent? Art Vincent Falconer
