To the Reader’s Forum: On behalf of the Chautauqua County Humane Society (CCHS), we thank The Post-Journal for their article on Thursday, August 17th ( “Doing All We Can – Resident Petitions City Council for Help Regarding Dog” Region, page A5) and also Merry Williams-Diers for bringing the situation to light. Larson’s Columns Deserve An ‘A’

To The Reader’s Forum: I have read with increasing appreciation the articles of Fred Larson to the Post Journal. For those who have never done the research necessary to prepare an article that is clear, concise, and correct it is very time-consuming. A long article can still be concise. Condition Of School Grounds Is Embarrassing

To The Reader’s Forum: I wrote to this paper over a year ago now, amazed at the conditions of the buildings and grounds for the Jamestown Public Schools. Over a year later, the situation looks even worse and more embarrassing for our community and students. The district leadership in Superintendent Whitaker and Asst. Supt. Spry are clearly just relying on New York States taxpayers and the capital projects to address their decaying buildings and facilities. Former Coach Requests An End To Running Up The Score In Soccer Games

To The Reader’s Forum: I am asking all high school soccer coaches to rethink the policy of allowing scores like 10 or 12 to nothing to happen. In order to start soccer in this county and in Cattaraugus County the coaches really worked together back in the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. I could give you many many examples but not running up the score would be just one of them. I know the old argument about Jeff scoring the only goal of his career in one of those lopsided games but I doubt it made him happy for more than a few minutes.
