Greenhurst Fire Remnants Becoming A Problem

Readers' Forum

To The Reader’s Forum:

For anyone living in the Greenhurst area, the pile of rubble which used to be the Chatterbox Restaurant has become a real problem.

The fire occurred several months ago. The charred remains have become, apparently, a permanent garbage dump. Not only is it unsightly, but I have to believe that this pile of junk is also becoming a home to vermin and could cause public health problems.

Why hasn’t it been removed? Where is the Town in enforcing its codes? Does the State of New York have an interest as it is situated on a state highway? Does the Chautauqua County Health Department need to become involved?

Those of us who are neighbors have had enough. Do we have to live with this through the coming winter? It is time to remove this unsightly mess!
