Charles “Charlie” S. Centi

Charles “Charlie” S. Centi, 82, passed away Thursday May 23, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born September 17, 1941, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Charles F. and Concetta “Connie” Bordenga Centi.

Charlie was a 1959 graduate of Jamestown High School, who kept active as a competitive bodybuilder/weightlifter where he won several championships. Following high school, Charlie served honorably in the U.S. Army for two years as a Decoder in Stuttgart, Germany.

Before his retirement, he worked at Jamestown Sterlingworth Corp. then later for Spray-Tech/ Dawson Metal Company, Inc.

Charlie attended the United Church of Christ of Jamestown.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and always had a project to do at home. Charlie was always up for whatever silliness his grandchildren wanted “Poppy” to get into.

Charlie would go out of his way for anyone in need and was known for his gentle smile and kind demeanor.

He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen “Kath” Whitmore Centi, whom he married on December 6, 1975; his son Michael (Marcie) Centi; his two daughters: Melissa (Tom) Perry and Melinda Centi; four grandchildren: Zachary Peterson (Nikkita Brightman), Zoie Centi, and Sophia Perry; great grandson Ayden Peterson and several cousins.

The funeral will be held at 1 pm Tuesday in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received two hours prior to the service from 11 am to 1 pm.

Burial will be in Allen Cemetery.
