Samuel K. Latona

Samuel K. Latona, 93, of Jamestown, New York, passed away on January 5, 2023 in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility following a brief illness.

He was born on May 26, 1929 to Nick and Grace Lunetta Latona.

After Sam graduated from Jamestown High School in 1948, he served the US Army in Korea from 1951-1952. He married his wife of 54 years, Wilma Zimmerman Latona in 1953.

Sam was employed at Marlin Rockwell Corporation as tool and die maker for 40 years, retiring in 1990.

After retirement, he and his wife moved to “the farm” in Busti where he enjoyed raising beef cattle, deer hunting, and working on farm equipment in his shop. Sam took pleasure in sharing coffee and stories with his many friends and neighbors. He treasured spending time with his family and never missed an opportunity to tell them how much he loved them. In recent years, he especially loved laughing and playing with his great-grandsons Sam, Max and Jack.

Sam is predeceased by his grandparents who raised him, Joseph and Pasqualina Latona, his parents, and siblings, brother Joe, and sister Esther Tramondo. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Robert) Lundgren, granddaughter Danielle Lundgren (Richie Seaholm) with whom he resided, grandson Nicholas (Megan) Lundgren, great-grandsons Jack Lundgren, Samuel Seaholm, and Maximus Seaholm.

Friends will be received on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg, NY from 12-2 pm, followed by a service at 2 pm.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at a luncheon immediately following the service at Anthony’s Supper Club, 174 Ivory St., Frewsburg.

A private burial will be held at Stillwater Cemetery on Monday, January 9.
