Person Dies After Sunday Stabbing In City

Jamestown police are investigating a Sunday stabbing that has left a person dead. On Sunday, May 3, around 4:30 a.m. city police officers responded to the area of Lakeview Avenue and East Eighth Street for a report of a stabbing victim. Once on scene, officers located an unresponsive person who had been stabbed. The person was taken to UPMC Chautauqua and then transported to UPMC Hamot via STAT MedEvac for life-threatening injuries. Fredonia hotel owner fights closure

Dunkirk Hospitality LLC is fighting the village of Fredonia’s attempts to force those staying at the former Route 60 EconoLodge to leave the building. The company filed an Article 78 lawsuit Friday asking the state Supreme Court to annul and vacate Fredonia’s April 27 direction to vacate the property without Dunkirk Hospitality LLC having an opportunity to be heard. The village had given a deadline of May 6 for that to happen.
