Scandinavian Culture Day opens on Oct. 3

The first Scandinavian Culture Day of the 28th year of the program will be held Saturday, Oct. 3. Culture Day is sponsored by the Scandinavian Studies Program and is supported through the JCC Foundation. Sessions are held in the Hamilton Collegiate Center of JCC and begin with coffee and lingonberry drink at 9:30 a.m. until noon. The new season begins with two events. Cinnamon Bun Day (Kanelbullens Dag) is always celebrated on Oct. 4 in Sweden and Finland. During Fika, fresh baked kanelbullar will be served. Lineman dies in Mayville during substation repair

A lineman was killed earlier this month while working on a substation in Mayville during a scheduled power outage. Attorney Joe Nicastro with Buffalo Law confirmed the death during a phone interview Tuesday. “Our firm has been retained by the Lockett family following the death of Stephen P. Lockett.
