Rising COVID Cases Causes Winston To Cancel Opera House Visit

FREDONIA – The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center announced today the cancellation of An Evening with George Winston, scheduled for Nov. 19.

According to Opera House Executive Director Rick Davis, “the Opera House received the following notice from George Winston’s management team late Tuesday afternoon: “Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 and the Delta variant’s rapidly rising cases, and out of safety and health concerns for our audience, venue staff, our artist and touring staff, we regret to announce the cancellation of George Winston’s concert tour for the remainder of 2021. We are looking forward to rescheduling in 2022. Sincerely, Night Song Concerts.'”

Davis notes that any patrons holding tickets for the concert have several options available to them. They may:

Request a full refund;

Request an Opera House voucher, with no expiration date, redeemable for any Opera House event in the future;

Convert the ticket purchase to a 2022 Opera House membership and receive a pair of complimentary Cinema Series movie tickets;

Convert the ticket purchase to a donation to the Opera House.

For more information or to convey any of the above options, contact the Opera House box office at 716-679-1891, T-F, noon-4:30pm or send an email to operahouse@fredopera.org .
