The American Red Cross was called to help nine tenants of an apartment complex following a structure fire Tuesday in Jamestown.

The fire at 154 James Ave., across from the Jamestown Community College campus, was reported shortly before noon. The blaze, which appears to have started in a second floor room, was quickly doused by city firefighters. ALSTAR EMS and Jamestown police also responded to the scene. Two city fire investigators were summoned to the apartment complex. The cause of the fire wasn’t known Tuesday.
