Numerous Outages Reported In South County By National Grid

About 65 power outages across central and southern Chautauqua County are impacting 1,200 customers. The outages are reported south of Jamestown and around Chautauqua Lake. High winds led to most of the outages with 234 active outages affecting more than 4,300 customers upstate, according to National Grid around 11 a.m. Saturday. Highest wind gusts were reported in the north county by National Weather Service spotters on Friday night and Saturday morning. They include: Fredonia, 60 mph; Forestville and Jamestown airport at 53; Clymer, 52; Ripley and Lakewood 47.

Police Investigating Thursday Shooting At Crescent, Buffalo Streets

Jamestown police officers are investigating a shooting Thursday that caused a lockdown at two city schools. According to a police report, at 1:24 p.m. officers responded to Crescent and Buffalo streets for a report of shots fired and found that a person forced their way into an occupied residence armed with a shotgun. During the incident the person fled the home, firing the shotgun and hitting the side of the home before fleeing the scene. There were no injuries, and police say the shooting was the result of a targeted attack on the people in the home. At this time the ...
