Forestville teen drowns in rough Lake Erie waters

ANGOLA --- The Evans Police Department is investigating a drowning in the rough waters that took place at Lake Erie Beach Park on Friday, claiming the life of a 15-year-old Forestville boy. Police, in a release issued Saturday, said they responded at 3:31 p.m. to the report of the boy who had reportedly gone underwater and did not resurface. The teen was located after being spotted by park lifeguards who then removed him from the lake and began life-saving measures until additional emergency personnel arrived. Timothy Gonzalez, 40, Jamestown, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, having an outstanding warrant and second-degree criminal contempt. At about 11:24 a.m. July 2, Jamestown Police officers responded to a complaint of a lost child on the East side of the city. An Olean man who was accused of selling drugs he received from a Jamestown man has pleaded guilty. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced that 55-year-old Theodore E. Coffie a/k/a Teddy Ticklez pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to narcotics conspiracy and being a felon in possession of a firearm, which carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison, a maximum of life, and a fine of $10 million. Unrelenting heat is again affecting the New York state grid. On Thursday afternoon, the New York Independent System Operator issued an Energy Watch due to a decline in operating reserves.
