Jamestown Police Department’s SWAT Team Receives Federal Grant

The Jamestown Police Department has been awarded $75,000 through the Tactical Team Grant Program to support its Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team. The funding is intended to address operational needs by improving equipment, expanding specialized training and ensuring team members are better prepared for high-risk incidents and extended deployments. Jamestown Duo Facing Drugs, Weapons Charges

A pair of Jamestown men are facing federal drugs and weapons charges. On Thursday, U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced a federal grand jury returned a superseding indictment charging Blake D. Smith, a/k/a Sweets, 50, and Willie Graham, a/k/a Wu, 45, with narcotics conspiracy, Hobbs Act Robbery, kidnapping, use of a firearm during a crime of violence, and use of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. A Jamestown man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for his role in a city drug ring. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Jaquez Thomas, 22, who was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John L.
