Dunkirk Airport gets $237,500 in federal funding

The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded a combined $237,500 to the Chautauqua County Airport in Dunkirk.

The funding, provided through the FAA’s Fiscal Year 2026 Airport Improvement Grant program, will support modernization projects at both Chautauqua County-Dunkirk Airport. The airport is reconstructing three existing airport access gates at the Dunkirk Airport that have reached the end of their useful lives.

“Regional airports are vital economic assets that support local businesses, emergency services, tourism, workforce development, and economic growth,” said U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-23. “This investment will help modernize our critical infrastructure, improve airport operations, and ensure these facilities continue serving our communities for years to come. I’m thrilled this federal money is coming back to our 23rd Congressional District.”

In May Langworthy announced a $5.7 million grant for Jamestown Airport. The grants were awarded through the FAA Airport Improvement Grant program, which provides federal funding for airport infrastructure projects that enhance safety, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

Starting at $3.50/week.
