Outdoor Club To Lead Kayak, Canoe Trip Sunday
On Sunday, June 28, Lisa To will be leading an Allegheny Outdoor Club kayak/canoe trip from the Warren General Hospital helipad at Crescent Park to just past Buckaloons to a private landing. The trip is a six-mile trip down the Allegheny River. Those who want a shorter route can land in Starbrick. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is known to be onsite at the Starbrick launch site checking for boat permits and life jackets. Based on current water levels, anticipate areas of swirling rapids and 60-foot depths. Those attending should meet at the helipad at 12:30 p.m. to arrange for unloading boats and shuttling vehicles downstream so the group is on the river by 1 p.m. There will be a potluck after the boat trip back at Crescent Park pavilion starting roughly at 4:30 or 5 p.m. Those attending should bring a dish to share. Hot dogs, water and dinnerware will be provided with Peter To at the grill. Restrooms are available. People wanting to attend just the potluck are welcome. In the event of thunderstorms, the potluck can still take place at 4:30 p.m. at the pavilion.
Red Cross To Host Blood Drive June 26 In Cassadaga
CASSADAGA – The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. June 26 in the Cassadaga Fire Hall, 22 Mill St. To make an appointment or for more information, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. visit RedCrossBlood.org. call 1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Fenton History Center To Hold Walking Tour Saturday
Learn about the original industry in Jamestown on The Fenton History Center’s walking tour at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, starting at the Fenton History Center, 67 Washington St., Jamestown. The tour will be near the Chadakoin River and the early industrial area of downtown Jamestown. Walkers will learn about the woolen mills, the railroad, the sawmills and the people who made it happen. Tom Goodwill, Fenton board president and historian, will lead the tour. The tour will begin and end at the Fenton History Center parking lot. The tour is two hours long. The cost is $8 for members and $12 for non-members. Participants can pre-register online at www.FentonHistoryCenter.org/historictours, in person at the Fenton, or by phone at 716-664-6256. There is a limit of 20 people for each tour. Children up to age 18 are free with a paying adult, limit two children per adult. Sponsors are Rodgers Land Surveying, Ahlstrom Schaeffer and Weber Knapp. Also available is a Full Circuit History Pass, which provides individual access to all Fenton Historic Walking Tours throughout the 2026 season. Each pass is valid for one person. The cost is $50 for members (regularly $56) and $80 (regularly $84) for non-members. Tours throughout the summer are of Allen Park, Jamestown’s Hidden Alleys, Jamestown’s Industrial Past, a military tour of Lake View Cemetery, Lucy’s Downtown, Churches tour, and the Ladies of Lake View Cemetery. Warren County Fairgrounds Open For July 4 Camping
PITTSFIELD – The Warren County Fairgrounds in Pittsfield, Pa., will be offering holiday camping for the Fourth of July. Check-in will start at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 26, with check-out on Sunday, July 5, by 2 p.m. There are several sites to choose from with water and electric hookups, restrooms with showers and a dumping station. Clymer To Unveil New Playground Saturday
CLYMER – The town of Clymer will build and unveil its new playground in Clymer Community Park on Saturday. Volunteers will build the playground starting at 8:30 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m. The park is located at 354 Clymer Corry Road, Clymer The playground is a collaboration between the town, KABOOM, the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation and the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.
