Chaut. Lake Snowmobile Club Secures Federal Grant
WASHINGTON, D.C. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded a $143,231 Rural Business Development Grant to the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club.
The funding will be used to purchase a Tucker Sno-Cat Model 2000 trail groomer, supporting the maintenance of 200 miles of snowmobile trails in Chautauqua County.
“Chautauqua County’s winter weather creates unique challenges, and maintaining safe and accessible snowmobile trails is critical for both recreation and tourism,” said Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-23. “This funding will ensure the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club has the equipment needed to keep more than 200 miles of trails in top condition throughout the season, supporting local jobs and boosting our regional economy.”
Rural Business Development Grants aim to promote economic development and job creation projects that benefit rural communities and small businesses. According to the USDA, this investment is expected to create six jobs and support 30 existing jobs at 12 rural small businesses.
Founded in 1969, the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club has 1,128 members, with volunteers maintaining one of the largest trail systems in New York state.
