Mayville Senior Citizens Meet For Lunchon

MAYVILLE – Thirty-two members of the Mayville Senior Citizens met recently at the Mayville VFW in Mayville for a potluck luncheon.

Dianne Goodrich led the invocation. After five short stories she led the group in the Lord’s Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. Jeff Wagner called the meeting to order. He said the club will be the host to the Senior Council on June 13 at 10 a.m. He asked for volunteers to help with the hosting.

Prizes for the trivia contest are $100 for first prize, $75 for second prize and $50 for third paize.

The Ellington Senior Club has folded.

On June 6, the Mayville Senior Citizens will have subs for lunch.

Linda Anderson, Goodwill chairperson, sent birthday cards to and brought in a birthday cake for three members, Janet Loomis, Dolly Gilbert, and June Schuster. The group sang them Happy Birthday.

A motion was made and seconded to accept the secretary’s report and treasurer’s report as given. Correspondence from Mary Carlson was read. A letter from Carol Hay donating $50 in memory of Sandra Chandler was also read. A thank you note was sent to Carol Hay acknowledging her donation.

The kitchen committee, Joyce Ayers, Dolly Gilbert, Louise Richir, and Bonnie Johnson was thanked.

The Mayville Library is collecting solar glasses for recycling. There is a meeting at the former Mayville Central School at 6 p.m. on May 1 to discuss the merger of the three local fire departments, Hartfield, Mayville, and Dewittville.

New member, John Weise was welcomed. The four door prizes were won by Jerry White, Beverly White, Bert Rosage and Karen Hulburt. Ann Carlson won the lottery.
