Lenna Visiting Scholars Speaker Presents On Thomas Indian School At JCC
Dr. Lori V. Quigley spoke recently in the Carnahan Theater at Jamestown Community College about the lasting consequences residential boarding schools like the Thomas Indian School have on Native Americans.
During her talk, the audience viewed the documentary “Unseen Tears: The Impact of Native American Residential Boarding Schools.”
Quigley is a professor of leadership and policy at Niagara University, was an advisor for the documentary, and has published journal articles on the history of the Thomas Indian School and constructivist approaches to teaching native languages. She grew up on the Allegany Territory of the Seneca Nation of Indians and is a 2024 Visiting Professor as part of the Lenna Visiting Scholars Series held in partnership with St. Bonaventure University.
