Scott Marcin, Rotary District 7090 governor, visited the Rotary Club of Jamestown recently and addressed the club regarding its many successes and the road ahead for all Rotarians.

There are more than 45,000 clubs with 1.4 million members all over the world with the mission of creating hope in the world. Among many other projects, the Jamestown Rotary has been busy in Jamestown and abroad erecting a new welcome sign to the city of Jamestown, promoting literacy through its Bibs and Books at UPMC Chautauqua, rehabilitating and distributing more than 1,000 bicycles for children in Cambodia and distributing water filters in the rural towns of Jalisco, Mexico.

Other clubs are busy with similar projects all over the world. This year’s focus is on the understanding and promotion of mental health awareness.

Marcin also inducted two new members into the Jamestown Club while he was visiting. Patricia Graves works with the Project Management Institute in the Global Talent Department. Graves volunteers to help her community strive for social justice and progress. She serves as the community engagement liaison for the African American community of Southern Chautauqua County for the I.D.E.A. Coalition. She serves on several local boards/committees including the Jamestown YWCA, the Jamestown Juneteenth Committee, and is a member of the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. In her free time, Graves enjoys cooking and reading and is the mother of a daughter, Amara. She was sponsored by Marion Beckerink.

Jason Sample was sponsored by Mark Olson. He studied communications at Jamestown Community College and then went on to West Virginia University for his bachelor’s degree. Jason began working at Media One Group as an on-air personality and then became station manager at WRFA-LP. He is now the marketing and communications coordinator at the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency.
