Reg Lenna To Show Poor Things Wednesday

Emma Stone is pictured in Poor Things, which will be shown Wednesday at the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts.

The Reg Lenna Center for the Arts will show the film Poor Things at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone, Poor Things is the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation. Poor Things is rated R and is 141 minutes long. The film is nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress – Stone, and Best Supporting Actor – Ruffalo.

Upcoming Movies @ The Reg include Jeffrey Wright in the Academy Award Best Picture nominee American Fiction (Wednesday, March 6, at 7 p.m.), Ava Duvernay’s critically acclaimed drama Origin (Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m.), the Academy Award Best Picture and Best International Feature nominee The Zone of Interest (Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m.) and a special engagement of the 2004 cult classic comedy Napoleon Dynamite (Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m.) followed by a live, in-person conversation with two of the film’s stars – Jon Heder and Efren Ramirez.
