Tim Edborg Receives Third Paul Harris Award

The Rotary Foundation presents the Paul Harris Fellow Award in honor of an initial contribution of $1,000 and for each $1,000 additional gift up to the major donor level of $10,000.

The money is used for various global humanitarian efforts.

Paul Harris was the founder and organizer of the first Rotary Club in Chicago in 1905. In 1957, Paul Harris Fellow recognition was begun to promote voluntary giving to The Rotary Foundation. An amount of $1,000 (the equivalent of over $9,000 today) was established as the contribution level in 1957. That amount has remained constant over the years. There are more than 1.5 million Paul Harris Fellows in the world. Each have earned their Paul Harris Fellow pin and certificate in past years. Their subsequent contributions to The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund, PolioPlus Fund or approved Foundation grants have added gemstones to their Paul Harris pins. They are names as multiple Paul Harris Fellows.

Rotarian Tim Edborg received his third Paul Harris Award. He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Jamestown since 1999 and served as President of the Club in 2005-2006. He is presently senior vice president – wealth management with the Great Lakes Consulting Group of UBS Financial Services, Inc.

Edborg, graduated from Jamestown Community College; the State University at Buffalo, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry; and from the SUNY Buffalo School of Dentistry. After graduation he followed his passion in music and entertainment, playing the drums with several area groups. In 2014 and 2015 he charted the Billboard Hot Single Sales as a writer and producer with two different songs (one at #6 and one at #14).

He is a former competitive power lifter with a state deadlift record (505 pounds in the 148-pound weight class in 1986) and he continues to be his older brother’s weightlifting coach. He holds two world records. Edborg was also a boxer with the Jamestown Boxing Club at the YMCA in the mid 1970s and has just recently taken up the sport again.

Tim is married to Lianne Edborg. They have two grown children. In his spare time, he loves to cook.

Edborg chose to use his foundation donation to select a great friend and community supporter to receive the award as well. He named Barbara Ann Horrigan to receive the honor.

Mrs. Horrigan attended the University of Cincinnati. After marrying her grade school sweetheart, they went on to travel the world, moving 14 times in 28 years as husband Col. Vince Horrigan, pursued his career as a jet fighter pilot and Mrs. Horrigan maintained the household and raised their children.

Mrs. Horrigan served on the board of the Chautauqua County Humane Society and for several years dressed as Santa Claus for Christmas dog and cat photos.

She served on the Finance Committee of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church and directed the Children’s Choir. She also volunteered on the Creche Board as treasurer.
