Harmony Seniors Gather For Dinner

Roberta Karlson, President, welcomed 53 members and guests to a delicious Thanksgiving turkey dinner

with all the trimmings prepared by Julia Nelson. The committee helping Julia consisted of Emily Baker, Pam Ireland, Karen Sims, Kathy Foulk, and Conner Tremblay.

Lois King, Chaplain, read “Thanksgiving Prayer” by Kay Huffman and offered the dinner prayer. The flag salute was led by Veterans attending the luncheon and each branch of the service was represented.

The food committee included Ray Wood, June Whipple and Carol Hetrick. They assisted in serving the food and provided the beautiful Thanksgiving table decorations. Members shared some of their Thanksgiving memories.

Wendie Raynor read the secretary’s report which was accepted with no corrections or additions. Mary Lou Garfield read the treasurer’s report for the months of September and October.

Vice president Laurie Russell recognized the following members celebrating birthdays in November with small gifts Ellen Lord and Mary Lou Garfield. The following members celebrating birthdays not present included Tom Karlson, Bill Sweeney, Shirley Earls and Frank Roth. They will be sent birthday cards.

Cindy Miller, Cheer Person reported on the cards she had sent to members during the past month. Dottie Enlow, Trip Chairperson stated no bus trips have been planned for the near future and asked if members would be willing to car pool to Erie to the Station Dinner and Theater.

Sally Hagg gave an update on the United Senior council meeting. the meetings are being held at individual senior groups and the next meeting was held at the Panama United Methodist Church on November 11th at 10:00.

Under old business, Roberta Karlson highlighted the changes to the By-Laws which had not been updated since 2011. Sally Hagg made a motion to accept the changes, seconded by Debra Baum. The motion was carried and the By-Laws will be adopted effective November 2021.

The next meeting will be held on Dec. 2 at noon at the Panama United Methodist church for a tureen dinner. The ham will be provided. Members are asked to bring their favorite Christmas dish to pass and their own table service. The committee includes Melvin and Ellen Lord, Bob and Cora Delahoy, Lyle and Janet Walker and Clair and Jane Donalson. Members are encouraged to bring a $5.00 exchange gift; you can wrap it or brown bag it. No need for any name, it will be part of the game. Entertainment will be provided by the “Singing Santas” Please dress in your Christmas finery.
