Ross Grange Hears From Falconer Library Reps

Ross Grange recognizes the importance of libraries in the community and each year invites representatives to share what they are doing to enrich the lives of their residents.

Those who attended the May 10 meeting were Sandy Thies, Falconer Free Library; Judith Whittaker, Ellington Farman Library; and Beth Hadley, Sinclairville Free Library. They shared activities, working with the COVID rules, as well as handouts available to all.

Falconer has not been able to have small groups, but will sponsor summer concerts in the park on Thursdays during the summer. They will interact with participants at the farmers’ market. Story hour for young children has been on line. They hope to have a book sale this year. Sinclcairville is able to host small groups by registration.

A children’s program is planned for the summer and craft kits have been sent home with children.

They will be involved with the Sinclairville history fair and plan a community discussion group. Ellington is able to host small groups in their community room. Some of the summer programs will be aerobics, a magician, the Audobon Nature Center, and history movies.

A representative from Fluvanna library was unable to attend. Each group received a monetary donation from Ross members. Refreshments were served with a sharing time for all.

The next meeting will be May 24 at 1 p.m. at the Falcon’s Nest, with chaplain Elaine Melquist arranging for the annual memorial program. Refreshments will follow the meeting.
