Langworthy To Speak At Virtual Murray Bob Lecture

The James Prendergast Library Association will host the 2020 Murray L. Bob Memorial Lecture in a virtual capacity this year at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Traci Langworthy, a Jamestown Community College history professor, will present “Cause for Rejoicing — 100-plus Years of Women’s Suffrage in Chautauqua County,” a look at the history of women’s suffrage in Western New York.

Participants can register for access to the online event on the library’s website at www.prendergastlibrary.org/2020-murray-l-bob-lecture.

Langworthy has taught American, World, and Women’s History courses at JCC since 2004. She is at work on her Ph.D. in American Studies through Penn State-Harrisburg, researching women who became star speakers on the popular lecture circuit in the late 1800s.

The annual Murray L. Bob Memorial Lecture began in 2004 to honor Murray L. Bob, longtime director of Prendergast Library and the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System. The lecture registration is free.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the virtual presentation.
