CWC, Findley Lake Nature Center To Hold ‘Tremendous Trees’ Program
CASSADAGA – At 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, interested paddlers are welcome to meet up at the DEC boat launch on Dale Drive in Cassadaga for the Tremendous Trees program.
The event will last from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Paddlers should bring a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddle board and plan to paddle the Cassadaga Lakes at a leisurely pace. The tour will include seeing the CLA-CWC Fern Island Wetland Preserve, a 12.5-acre nature preserve established in 2011 with donations from Cassadaga Lake residents and managed cooperatively by both organizations. Around lunch time, the group will stop along the shoreline for hot dogs, hamburgers and other refreshments provided by the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy.
The event is free and open to the public. Reservations are encouraged by calling or emailing the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy. Evergreen Outfitters is offering kayak rentals for those who would like to join but don’t have a boat by calling 763-2266 to reserve a rental. Bringing a dry change of clothes and towel are recommended,. All participants will be required to wear a life jacket while on the water.
