WARREN, Pa. — The reigning club champion golfers from The Post-Journal, OBSERVER AND Times Observer coverage area will tee off on Sunday in the 36th Jim Riggs Memorial Champions at Conewango Valley Country Club. The field is made up of last season’s men’s scratch club champions and previous winners of the tournament, which traces its origins to the late Jim Riggs. The Post-Journal sports editor from 1979-2014, Riggs hosted the first event in 1990 and it has been held annually ever since. EUGENE, Ore. — Through four events in the decathlon at the NCAA Track & Field Championships, Sherman native John Swabik is in 21st place. The Kansas senior scored 3,002 points after completing the 100 meters, the long jump, the shot put and the high jump, trailing leader Ben Barton of Brigham Young University, who stands at 3,468.
