Five members of the Maple Grove Red Dragons football team were honored at the 31st annual WNY High School Football Awards Banquet on Saturday. Carter Russo, pictured at left, was honored with the Chuck Funke Award for Defensive Player of the Game in the Section VI Class D championship game as well as being the Class D Defensive Player of the Year and an honorable-mention member of the All-WNY team. Nick Fabrizio, pictured at right, was honored with the Chuck Funke Award for Offensive Player of the Game in the Section VI Class D championship game, was named to the All-WNY Academic Team and was a Second Team member of the All-WNY team. Not present were Easton Tanner, an All-WNY honorable-mention selection; Zak Trim, a Second Team member of the All-WNY team; and Curt Fischer, the Gene Masters Award for Small School Coach of the Year.
