City Man Charged After Punching, Choking Woman Thursday

A Jamestown man was charged Thursday after allegedly choking and punching his girlfriend during a domestic incident.

William J. Bean, 34, was taken to Jamestown City Jail after officers responded around 10 a.m. near the area of King and Barrows streets. A woman told police Bean had choked her as well as punching her multiple times.

Bean was located a short time later and taken into custody. He was charged with third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing.

A background check revealed Bean had a previous domestic violence conviction within the last five years as well as an order of protection to stay away from the woman. He was additionally charged with aggravated criminal contempt and aggravated family offense.
