One man was shot and two suspects were being sought following a shooting Thursday in Jamestown.

Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said an officer was flagged down near the intersection of Fourth and Spring streets around 3 p.m. by a man who had been shot in the forearm. The victim, who has not been identified, was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

The shooting took place inside an apartment complex at 95 Liberty St., the police department said Thursday in a statement. Two men reportedly entered the complex and later fled the area after the shooting took place. They were last seen walking on Lakeview Avenue, Samuelson said.

The suspects were described as black men wearing dark clothing, with one wearing red- or purple-colored jeans. A photo of two men believed to be the suspects was released to the public.

Samuelson said police are looking for a motive to the shooting. However, he noted the public was “not in danger or targeted in this crime.”

“We do not believe that this was a random act of violence,” Samuelson told The Post-Journal. “The shooter was likely targeting this location and this victim.”

Anyone with information regarding the shooting or identity of the suspects seen in the photo is asked to contact Jamestown police at 483-7536 or leave an anonymous tip at 483-TIPS (8477) or through the Tips 411 cellphone app. All calls and tips are kept confidential.
