Drugs, Cash Found During Search Of Home

A search of a Jamestown home Tuesday resulted in several charges for a city man, the Jamestown Police Department said.

Lynn J. Jackson Jr., 39, was charged with third- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia following an investigation by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force. With assistance from the New York State K-9, police conducted a search warrant at 196 Barrett Ave. around 10:55 p.m.

Entry was gained with the assistance of the Jamestown SWAT Team.

Inside, Jackson was allegedly found with 59 bags of heroin and less than 1 gram of fentanyl. Investigators also reportedly found cash and suboxone strips.

Jackson was taken into custody and transported to Jamestown City Jail for arraignment.

“This case is significant because of the fentanyl connection,” Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department said. “Fentanyl is extremely dangerous and potent to those who use it. We are still seeing heroin cases here in Jamestown at a level, but we have only seen fentanyl on a couple of occasions. Users of heroin may not be aware of its presence and it often leads to overdoses when used.”

Jamestown police asked anyone with information regarding illegal sales or trafficking of narcotics to call 483-Tips (8477) or leave information through the Tips 411 cellphone app.
