Bills to play ‘O Canada’ at home opener

ORCHARD PARK — The Buffalo Bills are honoring their fans to the north by having the Canadian national anthem performed at their home opener next week, and amid rising cross-border tensions with the United States. The team on Wednesday announced that the Toronto-based musical act Barenaked Ladies will perform "O Canada" before the Bills' prime-time game against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 17. Falconer/CV/MG blank Randolph 1-0 in girls soccer

RANDOLPH — Quinn Johnson’s goal from Adri Lombardo was all Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove needed as it escaped from Randolph with a 1-0 nonleague girls soccer victory on Wednesday. The Golden Cougars dominated the possession, but struggled to score as Stella Smith made 11 saves in net for Randolph (0-2-0). Ellyson Baglia maintained the clean sheet after making two saves for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove (3-0-0).

Swanson sends Wolverines past Black Knights

WESTFIELD — Braylon Swanson had himself a day. The Westfield/Brocton standout recorded three goals and three assists Wednesday to lead the Wolverines to a 6-0 victory over Silver Creek/Forestville in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 boys soccer victory. Caleb Freifeld added two goals and Solomon Freifeld collected the other. Adding assists were Mike Cettell, Landon Vandevelde and Caleb Stoughton. Westfield/Brocton improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the division, while the Black Knights dropped to 0-2 and 0-1.
